Introduction

These Terms and Conditions apply to all course bookings, enrolments, payments, training services, assessments, group bookings, online learning, face-to-face training and use of the Shield Education website.

By making a booking, submitting an enrolment form, making payment, attending training, accessing course materials or using our website, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

About Shield Education

Shield Education Pty Ltd is an Australian Registered Training Organisation providing training, assessment and related education services.

Shield Education provides nationally recognised training, short courses, online learning, face-to-face training, group training and related student support services.

Course information

Course information published on our website may include course names, prices, delivery methods, course dates, locations, assessment requirements, practical requirements and expected completion timeframes.

Shield Education aims to keep all course information accurate and current. However, course dates, prices, locations, availability and delivery arrangements may change from time to time.

Where there is a difference between general website information and written course or enrolment information provided directly by Shield Education, the written course or enrolment information will apply.

Enrolment and student information

Students must provide accurate and complete information when enrolling or booking into a course.

This may include personal details, contact details, date of birth, Unique Student Identifier information, identification documents, course information, payment details and any other information required for training, assessment, certification, reporting or compliance purposes.

Shield Education may be unable to process an enrolment, issue a certificate or finalise training records if required information is incomplete, inaccurate or not provided.

Student responsibilities

Students are responsible for:

providing accurate enrolment and contact information;

    • reading course information before enrolling;

    • completing required online learning or pre-course work;

    • attending scheduled training sessions;

    • completing assessment tasks honestly and to the required standard;

    • advising Shield Education if they require reasonable support or adjustment;

    • meeting any practical, identification or course participation requirements;

    • behaving respectfully and safely during training and assessment.

Course entry and participation requirements

Some courses may have entry requirements, physical participation requirements, online learning requirements, practical assessment requirements, work placement requirements or identification requirements.

Students are responsible for ensuring they understand and can meet the requirements of the course they enrol in.

For First Aid and CPR courses, students may be required to physically perform practical skills, including CPR on a manikin placed on the floor, unless otherwise advised.

Online learning and pre-course work

Some courses may require students to complete online learning, theory questions, pre-assessment activities or other pre-course requirements before attending a practical session or before being assessed.

Certificates, Statements of Attainment or other training documents cannot be issued until all required training and assessment components have been successfully completed and all required information has been provided.

Payments

Course fees must be paid according to the payment terms provided at the time of booking or enrolment.

Shield Education may accept payment by card, invoice, direct deposit, payment plan or other approved payment method.

Where a payment plan is approved, the student or payer agrees to make payments by the due dates outlined in the payment arrangement.

All applicable fees must be finalised before a qualification, certificate, Statement of Attainment or final training record is issued, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Transaction currency

All prices displayed on the Shield Education website are listed in Australian dollars (AUD) unless otherwise stated.

All online transactions, course bookings, enrolments and payments made through this website are processed in Australian dollars (AUD).

Shield Education Pty Ltd is an Australian business, and all fees are charged in Australian dollars.

Payment processing

Shield Education may use third-party payment processors, including Square, to process payments securely.

Payment information processed by Square is handled in accordance with Square’s own terms, privacy and security practices.

Shield Education does not store full credit card details on its website.

Payment plans

Where payment plans are offered, they are payment arrangements for course fees only.

Payment plans are not memberships or subscriptions.

Students or payers using a payment plan are responsible for making payments according to the agreed payment schedule.

If a student withdraws, stops attending or does not complete the course, any outstanding fees for services already provided, course access granted, resources supplied or administration completed may remain payable.

Memberships and subscriptions

Shield Education does not currently offer paid memberships or subscription-based services through this website.

Where payment plans are offered for selected courses, these are payment arrangements for course fees only and are not memberships or subscriptions.

Payment plan terms will be provided to the student or payer before the payment arrangement is confirmed.

Course changes, transfers and cancellations

Shield Education may allow students to transfer to another course date where reasonable notice is provided and a suitable alternative date is available.

If a student does not attend a booked session, does not complete required pre-course work, or does not provide required information, this may delay completion or certification.

Refunds, cancellations and transfers are managed in accordance with our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

Refunds

Refunds are managed in accordance with Shield Education’s Refund and Cancellation Policy.

A refund is not automatically provided where a student changes their mind, does not attend, does not complete required work, provides incorrect information, or chooses not to continue after training or course access has commenced.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits any rights a customer may have under Australian Consumer Law.

Certificates and Statements of Attainment

Certificates, Statements of Attainment or other official training documents will only be issued where:

    • the student has been deemed competent;

    • all required assessments have been completed;

    • all required enrolment information has been provided;

    • the student’s Unique Student Identifier has been verified where applicable;

    • any required placement, practical evidence or workplace evidence has been completed;

    • all applicable fees have been paid

Assessment outcomes

Students must meet the required standard for assessment before being deemed competent.

If a student is not yet competent, further training, reassessment or additional evidence may be required.

A certificate or Statement of Attainment cannot be issued until competency has been achieved and all requirements have been met.

Group bookings

Group bookings may be delivered at Shield Education’s venue or at an approved external workplace or site.

The client or organisation booking the training is responsible for ensuring the training location is safe, suitable and has adequate space, facilities and access for the agreed training and assessment activities.

Group booking prices, travel fees, minimum numbers, cancellation terms and payment terms may vary depending on the location, group size and course requirements.

Student behaviour

Students are expected to behave respectfully and safely towards trainers, assessors, staff, other students and visitors.

Shield Education may refuse service, remove a student from training, cancel an enrolment or take further action where behaviour is unsafe, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, disruptive or otherwise inappropriate.

Reasonable adjustment and support

Shield Education aims to support students to access and participate in training where reasonable and appropriate.

Students should advise Shield Education as early as possible if they require learning support, reasonable adjustment or assistance with course participation.

Reasonable adjustment does not remove the requirement for a student to meet the required competency standard for a course.

Privacy

Shield Education handles personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose and protect personal information.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Shield Education is not liable for loss or damage arising from misuse of course materials, failure to follow instructions, failure to complete required assessment tasks, incorrect information provided by the student, non-attendance, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any rights, guarantees or remedies that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

Circumstances outside our control

Shield Education is not responsible for delays, cancellations or changes caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

This may include trainer illness, venue issues, technology issues, extreme weather, emergencies, system outages, government requirements or other events that affect our ability to deliver training as planned.

Where this occurs, Shield Education will take reasonable steps to offer an alternative arrangement where possible.
